About Networking West Virginia

We are a privately owned, IT-driven company based in West Virginia. I began my journey in 1996 when owning a computer required knowing how it worked—or it wouldn’t work for long. Back then, networking with others took more than a tap on a phone screen, and connecting a new printer involved more than just plugging in a cord.

This journey inspired me to pursue a CompTIA A+ certification, alongside several Cisco and Microsoft certifications. More recently, I’ve been fascinated by the advancements in technology and the significant impact that companies like Ubiquiti are making in the market, particularly with their UniFi and UISP product lines. As a result, I’ve also earned certifications under the Ubiquiti brand. For me, continuous learning and education remain a top priority.

In my early years, I worked a range of jobs across various industries but always found myself drawn back to the server rack. After a few years of working directly with end customers—repairing and building PCs, installing home security and surveillance systems—I transitioned to supporting commercial clients. This included projects focused on data retention, security, networking, and work in hospitality environments, where we designed and implemented guest Wi-Fi, VPNs, and point-of-sale systems. I also spent time in the telecommunications industry, where I was tasked with building and deploying redundant servers in a dual-ring topology to facilitate the transition between analog and digital cellular services.

Following the completion of that project, my wife and I spent a few years building an off-grid, solar-powered ranch, where we shared nearly 40 acres with cows, sheep, pigs, chickens, and a few dogs. Later, an opportunity arose from a gentleman in the private sector who needed someone to manage data facilities focused on Bitcoin mining, data farming, leased server space, and research and development in liquid cooling servers. We collaborated with manufacturers on firmware development, and our facilities became the testing grounds for innovations in liquid and immersion cooling and long-term operations.

And so, my journey with Networking West Virginia, begins.
